Happy Tuesday, Monmouth County! Friday night gave us one of those perfect sunsets that makes you appreciate living by the shore. Apparently that was our reward for surviving the nor’easter that took over the rest of the weekend.

Surf’s Up for the Foamboard Faceoff

Surfing skills are helpful, but apparently funny dance moves and crazy dismounts count too. Foamboard Faceoff 2026 is taking over Anchorage Beach in Sea Bright on Saturday, October 10, bringing a soft-top surfing competition where creativity, costumes and having a good time are just as important as catching a wave.

Surfers of just about every age can compete for prizes based on everything from surfing ability and style to best costume and overall epicness. Off the water, there will be music, vendors, face painting, a donut eating contest, giveaways, hula hoop and dance contests, plus adoptable dogs and cats from the Associated Humane Society of Tinton Falls.

Best of all, profits from the event benefit the Humane Society. So even if your surfing career begins and ends on the beach, there are plenty of reasons to come hang out and support a good cause.

Hayrides, Pumpkins & Plenty of Fall Fun

Pumpkin season is in full swing at Robbie’s Atlantic Farms in Manasquan, and they’re packing just about every fall activity into one trip. The farm is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, each wristband includes access to pick-your-own pumpkin patch, hayrides, corn mazes, barrel rides and plenty of adorable farm animals waiting to say hello.

For the kids, there are bounce houses, face painting, pumpkin bowling, mini mazes and more. You can also stock up on mums, cornstalks and straw bales for the annual attempt to make your front porch look like it belongs in a fall catalog.

Basically, wear the flannel, grab a cider and prepare to go home with a pumpkin you absolutely did not need to be that large.

A Little Country, a Lot of BBQ at Huddy’s Inn

Grab your boots and come hungry because the CNBA Pig Roast is taking over Huddy’s Inn on Thursday, October 8 at 5:30 PM for one of Colts Neck’s favorite fall traditions.

The night brings together friends, neighbors and local businesses for a pig roast and buffet, live music and a cash bar. Hats and boots are highly encouraged, so consider this your opportunity to finally justify that cowboy hat sitting in the back of your closet.

Round up some friends, arrive hungry and settle in for a laid-back fall night with the Colts Neck community. BBQ, drinks and live music feels like a pretty solid Thursday to us.

Fall Festivities Take Over The Grove

The Grove at Shrewsbury is getting into the Halloween spirit with its Fall Festival on Saturday, October 24 from 12 to 3 PM. The afternoon will feature trick-or-treating, face painting, food and a visit from the Shrewsbury Fire Department.

The Halloween Parade kicks off at 12:15 PM, so this is a good excuse to get some extra mileage out of those costumes before Halloween. There will also be a Holiday Pie Bake-Off happening at The Baker’s Grove at Grove West.

Bring the kids, grab some candy and enjoy an easy afternoon of fall fun before the Halloween sugar rush officially begins.
