Happy Tuesday, Monmouth County! I know pumpkin spice comes out earlier every year, but seeing it already is still catching me off guard. Somehow summer is almost over and I’m not emotionally prepared to discuss the F word yet.

Grab Your Putter for the 1st Annual Irish Open

Get your putter ready because the 1st Annual 9th Ave Pier Irish Open is bringing a little friendly competition to Belmar on Sunday, September 13 from 1 to 3 PM. The charity mini golf tournament will have players battling it out for the best overall score, prizes and, most importantly, some serious bragging rights.

The winner will take home the inaugural Green Jacket, because apparently mini golf deserves its own version of the Masters. There will also be player and door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and plenty of opportunities to celebrate after the tournament.

Once the clubs are put away, the party continues at 9th Ave Pier with live music, a free buffet, cash bar and more prizes. Best of all, proceeds benefit the Belmar St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, so your competitive mini golf era is supporting a good cause.

A Run to Remember: Jersey Shore 9/11 Memorial Run

The Jersey Shore 9/11 Memorial Run returns to Belmar on Friday, September 11 at 6 PM for an evening dedicated to remembering those from the Jersey Shore who were lost on September 11, 2001. The approximately three-mile run begins on the boardwalk across from Dunkin’ Donuts on 16th Avenue.

It’s not a race so no bibs, clocks, or registration fees. Participants will begin by reading the names of those lost before traveling together in silence to memorials in Spring Lake, where more names will be read and flags and flowers placed in remembrance.

After the final moment of silence, the group will return to Belmar for a post-run reception. All are welcome to participate in this meaningful evening of remembrance and reflection.

A Very Early-2000s Night in Asbury

Grab your girls, a blanket and your favorite rom-com snacks because How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is heading to the Baronet Rooftop in Asbury Park on Thursday, September 10. The 2003 classic will be shown outdoors under the stars, which feels like a pretty solid excuse to revisit peak early-2000s rom-com fashion and questionable dating advice.

Doors open at 8 PM, with the movie starting around 8:45 PM at sundown. Fresh popcorn, candy and drinks including wine, beer and cocktails will be available, so there is really no need to sneak snacks into your purse like it’s a middle school movie night.

Seating is first come, first served and can be limited, so bringing your own beach chair or blanket is encouraged. Entry is through the center set of exterior doors at The Asbury, using the rooftop elevator entrance.

Come for the nostalgia, stay for the popcorn, and leave with a renewed appreciation for the fact that none of us have to wear a giant yellow dress to impress a man in 2026.

Fall Festival at Oakley Farm Museum

Fall is making its way to Oakley Farm Museum with a full day of music, food and family fun every second Sunday of the month starting on Sunday, September 13 from 10 AM to 4 PM. The annual Fall Festival will feature craft vendors, free house tours, a food truck and live music throughout the day.

The music lineup covers a little bit of everything, from Rutgers Woodwinds and Irish dance music to contemporary rock, acoustic folk and Appalachian string band tunes. Basically, there is plenty to keep your ears entertained while you browse the vendors and grab something to eat.

Come for the fall vibes, stay for the music and maybe sneak in a free tour of the historic farmhouse while you're there. It is a pretty solid way to spend a Sunday in Freehold.
