Happy Tuesday, Monmouth County! I got hit with the flu this past week and I can’t help but feel like it showed up fashionably late… and completely uninvited. Naturally, I started feeling better just in time to miss the sunny, 75-degree weather.

On the docket:

  • Celebrate Earth Day at Bayonet Farm

  • Game On for HABcore’s Pickleball Social

  • Dino Fest Is Back at Arrowhead Farmstead

  • Shake Things Up with a Mother’s Day Mixology Class

  • Live Music Lowdown

Celebrate Earth Day at Bayonet Farm

The Holmdel Earth Day Festival and Greenway Walk is happening Sunday, April 26 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Bayonet Farm, and it is one of those easy, wander-around kind of afternoons that somehow turns into a full day.

If you are feeling ambitious, start with the 11:00 AM guided Greenway Walk. It is a two mile loop that kicks off at the Harding House and brings you right back as the festival gets going.

Once things are in full swing, expect a mix of live music from Late4Lunch, wildlife shows like the Eyes of the Wild Mammal Show, interactive exhibits, and local environmental groups set up throughout the property. There is also food at the Red Barn to keep you fueled between laps.

It is completely free, family friendly, and just structured enough to feel like a plan without actually requiring one.

Game On for HABcore’s Pickleball Social

A little friendly competition, a good cause, and just enough time on the court to get invested.

HABcore’s Pickleball Social is happening on Sunday, April 26 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at The Atlantic Club, bringing together players of all levels for an easygoing but energetic afternoon. You can jump into open play, test your skills in a friendly tournament, or just rally with new people and call it a win.

Off the court, there is a raffle, light lunch, and refreshments to keep things balanced. The event is supported by a group of juniors from Trinity Hall and benefits HABcore’s mission to provide housing solutions for those in need, so you can feel productive while working on your backhand.

Show up ready to play, meet a few new people, and leave feeling like you did something good without it feeling like work.

Dino Fest Is Back at Arrowhead Farmstead

Dino Fest at Arrowhead Farmstead is running Thursday through Sunday, turning 150 acres of tulip fields into a full-on prehistoric experience. Yes, that means colorful flowers in one direction and life-like, moving dinosaurs in the other.

The setup is equal parts fun and slightly surreal. You can walk through the fields, come face-to-face with 30 live-action dinosaurs, and then casually head over to a fossil dig or a stage show like that is a normal way to spend your afternoon. There are also kid-friendly play areas and plenty of photo ops, so expect your camera roll to get a workout.

It is designed to be an all-ages kind of day. Kids will be fully locked in, and adults will be just as entertained whether they admit it or not. Show up ready to explore, take a lot of pictures, and question how you ended up walking through a tulip field with a T-Rex in the background.

Shake Things Up with a Mother’s Day Mixology Class

A Mother’s Day Mixology Class is going down in Red Bank on Thursday, May 7 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and it is basically a two-hour upgrade from the usual dinner plans. Hosted by Grey Goose, the class walks you through how to actually make cocktails that taste as good as they look.

No experience needed here. You will get hands-on instruction, build your own drinks from start to finish, and enjoy them as you go. There are also light bites, raffles, and a few chances to win prizes mixed in, so it is not just about what is in your glass.

Bring your mom, bring a friend, or show up solo and make a few new ones. It is relaxed, a little interactive, and just enough effort to feel like you planned something thoughtful without overthinking it.
