Get Outside This Winter: Cross-Country Ski Experience

Roald Dahl’s Matilda Comes to Red Bank
One of Roald Dahl’s most beloved stories is coming to life on stage this week as Matilda the Musical takes over the Count Basie Center. This high-energy production delivers big songs, sharp humor, and plenty of heart, all led by one very extraordinary kid.
Catch the show on January 6 and 7 at 7:00 PM at the Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center. Expect catchy numbers, impressive performances, and a story that’s just as entertaining for adults as it is for kids.
It’s a perfect excuse for a winter night out, whether you’re a longtime Matilda fan or just looking for a feel-good musical that delivers on fun from start to finish. Grab your tickets in the link below!
Mario Night! Crafts, Bingo & Family Fun
If your week could use a little more Mario and a little less screen time, Proving Ground has you covered. On Wednesday, January 7, they’re hosting Mario Night from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, a kid-friendly evening that’s all about crafts, games, and a whole lot of nostalgic fun.
Little gamers can get creative with crafts, test their luck at bingo with Mario, and soak up the playful, family-friendly vibes. It’s the perfect excuse to get out of the house, let the kids have some fun, and maybe relive your own Mario days while you’re at it.
Spots are limited, so be sure to make a reservation using the link below to lock in your table.
Cool Creations on the Boardwalk: Pier Village Ice Carving
If winter needs a little extra wow factor, Pier Village is bringing the chill in the best way possible. The Ice Carving Competition takes over the boardwalk on Saturday, January 17 from 12 to 3 PM, turning massive blocks of ice into impressive works of art right before your eyes.
Bundle up and head to The Blue Wave to watch talented ice carvers chisel and sculpt ice into detailed creations in real time. It’s part art show, part friendly competition, and a whole lot of fun to watch.
Best of all, it’s a free, family-friendly event, making it an easy winter outing with plenty of photo ops and boardwalk vibes. Cold hands, cool sculptures, and a very solid way to spend a Saturday.
Get Outside This Winter: Cross-Country Ski Experience
If your winter routine could use a little fresh air (and maybe less couch time), this Cross-Country Ski Experience is a great excuse to get outside and try something new. It’s your chance to test out the Olympic sport of cross-country skiing with no experience required.
Led by knowledgeable Outdoor Adventures staff, this guided session covers the basics and gets you moving, gliding, and feeling confident on the trails. And if Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate? No worries, the program runs with or without snow, so the fun still happens.
The experience costs $28 per person and all skiing equipment is included! The experience takes place at Thompson Park on January 4th & 17th, and February 7, but spots are limited, so be sure to book as soon as possible using the link below before it fills up!
