Drive Through a Holiday Wonderland in Holmdel

The Magic of Lights is back to brighten up Holmdel! Starting November 21, the PNC Bank Arts Center will transform into a glowing drive-thru wonderland of dazzling holiday displays, festive tunnels, and larger-than-life light sculptures and all synced to holiday music you can play right from your car speakers.

This annual tradition features millions of sparkling LED lights spread across the PNC grounds, with themed scenes ranging from classic Christmas icons to new surprises for 2025. Whether you’re bringing the kids for a magical night out or just looking to crank up the holiday spirit early, this one’s guaranteed to deliver a dose of cheer (and maybe a few car sing-alongs).

The show runs nightly through December 30, so grab some hot cocoa, pile in the car, and get ready to cruise through one of New Jersey’s brightest holiday traditions. Tickets can be purchased down below!

Local Author Takes Flight with First Children’s Book: The Seagull Who Wanted to be an Eagle

Monmouth County local, Andrew Manning, has published his first children’s book titled The Seagull Who Wanted to be an Eagle

While clamming with friends in the Shrewsbury River, Manning found inspiration in an unexpected moment. Twisting around in the mucky sand, he wondered, “What if a seagull covered himself in mud to look like an eagle? He might look the part, but he sure wouldn’t be able to fly.” From that spark came the story of Sammy the Seagull, reminding us that character is defined through one’s actions, not one’s looks.

The book is brought to life with charming illustrations from a Burlington, VT art teacher and printed locally by Jersey Printing Associates in Atlantic Highlands. Though Manning never set out to write a children’s book, he’s embraced the creative process and the adventure of self-publishing with real enthusiasm. “The best part for me is seeing my friend’s kids really enjoy the book. The part I still haven’t quite wrapped my head around is that they’d actually want me to sign it.”

With the holidays around the corner, it’s the perfect time to pick up a copy as a thoughtful gift for the little readers in your life. Grab a copy below!
