Weekly Roundup 07/29/25

Thirty Years of Clamfest, Spring Lake’s Summer BBQ & Touch-a-Truck, Mazza Recycling Truck Pull, Open House at Lake House Music Academy, Live Music Lowdown

Good morning, Monmouth County. Last Sunday’s storms turned Sea Girt into a slip ’n slide, with flash floods swallowing streets and stranding cars like beached whales. No one surfed the intersections (that we know of), but if you’ve ever dreamed of paddling to Wawa—this was your shot.

We’ve got your weekly rundown right here, soggy sneakers and all.

On the docket:

  • Thirty Years of Clamfest: Highlands’ Tastiest Tradition Returns This Weekend

  • Burgers & Big Rigs: Spring Lake’s Summer BBQ Rolls In This Saturday

  • 4th Annual Mazza Recycling Truck Pull: Pulling Together for a Great Cause

  • Lake House Music Academy Open House: Your Chance to Make Some Noise

  • Live Music Lowdown

Thirty Years of Clamfest: Highlands’ Tastiest Tradition Returns This Weekend

Highlands Clamfest is back for it’s 30th year from August 1–3 at Huddy Park, and it’s bringing the goods: fresh seafood, cold sangria, live bands, and just enough chaos to make it feel like summer. It’s free to get in and free to park, which means more money for lobster rolls and questionable carnival snacks you'll pretend not to regret.

The fun starts Friday at 6 PM with The Discoteks playing at 7:30. Saturday’s got music all day starting at 2 PM, plus a fireworks show over the water at 10 PM if you need a little sparkle with your seafood. Sunday winds things down with The Clamdiggers at 5 PM and one last shot at funnel cake before reality returns. Rain or shine, we’ll be there — probably holding a clam in one hand and a wine slushie in the other.

Burgers & Big Rigs: Spring Lake’s Summer BBQ Rolls In This Saturday

The 3rd Annual Summer BBQ & Touch-A-Truck is pulling into Marucci Park on Saturday, August 2, from 4 to 9 PM, and yes — there will be pizza, police cars, and a beer tent. It’s the kind of event where you can eat pulled pork while watching your friends’ kids lose their minds over a fire truck. Perfect combo.

Spring Lake Pizza and Weekend Smokers will be serving up dinner, and there’ll be a full lineup of inflatables, a water slide, face painting, and local vendors. Adults can hit the beer garden and enjoy live music from Jak Fire — because nothing says summer like sipping a cold one next to a bouncy house.

No tickets, no stress, just BBQ, sirens, and a lot of very excited small humans yelling “ambulance!” at top volume. You’ve been warned.

4th Annual Mazza Recycling Truck Pull: Pulling Together for a Great Cause

Think you’ve got what it takes to pull a truck? No? Same.

But luckily, some teams are giving it a go at the 4th Annual Mazza Recycling Truck Pull on Saturday, August 2nd, 1–4 PM in Tinton Falls. Teams of 10 will race to drag a moving truck 100 feet — because why not turn a workout into a competition?

All the hard work benefits the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, so you can feel good about cheering (or just watching people sweat). Plus, there’s rides, games, vendors, and prizes, so even if you’re not pulling, you’ve still got a good excuse to show up.

Rain date is Sunday, August 3rd. Swing by for some friendly competition and a good time.

Lake House Music Academy Open House: Your Chance to Make Some Noise

Ready to swap screen time for some real jams? Lake House Music Academy in Red Bank is throwing open its doors on Thursday, July 31, from 6 to 8 PM at 51 Monmouth Street — and you’re invited.

They’ve got music classes for all ages and levels, whether you’re a total beginner or the family’s next guitar hero. Swing by for a free trial class and see if drumming on real drums beats banging on your kitchen table. Piano, guitar, drums — pick your weapon and get ready to rock.

Warning: if your kid gets hooked, your house might get a bit louder... but hey, that’s a small price for a future rockstar.
