Belmar’s Seafood Festival Returns: Three Days of Lobster Rolls, Rum Cake & Oceanfront Fun!
Seafood lovers, mark your calendars! The NJ Seafood Festival is back in Belmar from Friday, May 16 through Sunday, May 18, 2025, and it’s all going down at the scenic Silver Lake Park on Ocean Avenue (between 5th and 7th Avenues). With nearly 30 food vendors in attendance—including local favorites like Klein’s, Mr. Shrimp, and Playa Bowls—this is not the weekend to start a diet. From lobster rolls to crab legs and coconut shrimp, there’s something for every seafood craving.
Admission is free, and you can grab bites from each vendor at your own pace! If you need a break from seafood (we won’t judge), expect savory sides like empanadas and lobster mac, plus a whole lineup of desserts like fried Oreos and rum cake. Oh, and for the 21+ crowd, 10th Ave. Burrito Co. and ShorePoint Distributors are teaming up for a beer, wine, and hard seltzer tent—because nothing pairs with lobster fries quite like a cold one.

Lace Up for a Cause: Marine Corps Run for Freedom 5K Hits Freehold
Looking for a meaningful way to get moving? Mark your calendars for the Marine Corps Run for Freedom 5K on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at iPlay America in Freehold, NJ. Whether you're a seasoned runner, prefer a leisurely walk, or want to challenge yourself with a ruck, there's a spot for you. Plus, it's all for a great cause—supporting veterans through organizations like the Marine Raiders Foundation and the Semper Fi Fund.
The race kicks off at 9:30 AM, but you'll want to arrive early for check-in. Registration is $35 in advance and $45 on race day, which includes a custom Marine Corps commemorative run shirt and finisher medal. And hey, if running isn't your thing, you can always cheer from the sidelines and enjoy the camaraderie. Just remember, it's rain or shine—so maybe leave the white sneakers at home.

Sun, Sand & Science: Ocean Fun Day Returns to Sandy Hook!
If you're looking for something fun, free, and educational to do with the whole crew, the 22nd Annual Ocean Fun Day at Sandy Hook is the perfect pick. Happening on Saturday, May 18, this event brings together local organizations, scientists, and environmentalists to celebrate all things marine life and coastal conservation. Expect hands-on exhibits, beach walks, crafts for the kids, and even eco-tours—so yes, it’s basically the coolest school field trip… but on a weekend.
Whether you’re a beach lover, science buff, or just there for the sea breeze and snacks, there’s something for everyone. It’s a great way to connect with the community and learn a few things while you're at it—like how to impress your friends with random facts about sea turtles. 😉 Bring sunscreen, comfy shoes, and your curiosity—you won’t regret it!
